Wooden Church - Lukov

Wooden Church - Lukov

Villages Lukov and Venecia, where their original inhabitants were Italian glassmakers got marged in 1943. The wooden Greek-Catholic Church of Ss. Cosmas and Damian, built between 1708 - 1709, was already renovated in 1740. Basement of the church sanctuary is rare. Baroque decoration comes from the 18th century, but there are valuable icons from the 16th and 17th centuries. Remarkable is also the sculpture of the Calvary. Turret of the church provides a space for two bells, one of them indicates the year 1620 and the inscription Venecia. Another valuable monuments from this church are exhibited in the Slovak National Gallery.
