GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION
Bardejov is situated in the north-eastern Slovakia, it spreads on both sides of the Topľa river in the western part of the Low Beskids and the Ondavská vrchovina highlands. It is located at the crossroads od tourist routes - the West-Eastern one from the Tatras via Stará Ľubovňa in the direction of Svidník and Dukla, crossed from the south by route from Hungary through Košice and Prešov until the border with Poland. The Bardejov distict has 60 km long common border with Poland.

NATURE
Bardejov and its surroundings are created by peculiar mountainous environment, where curved mountainous backs alternate broad valleys. From geological point of view the area is built mostly by flysch rocks - resilient sandstones and less resilient clay shales.
Surrounding mountains and hills are covered mostly by beech, fir and mixed forests. In the valleys of smaller rivers and along the dead gullies predominate shrub - grasslands, for example blackthorn, privet, alder, willow and so on.
Forests are rich in fauna and forest animals. Characteristic species include, salamander, lizard, raven, wolf, badger plain, Carpathian deer and roe deer, lynx, hare, fox, marten and wild boar. The are is particularly interesting thanks to the kingdom of insects, which are represented by rare species of beetles and butterflies.
WATERS
The Bardejov region belongs to the river basin of the Bodrog and Hornád rivers. Surface water from Bardejov and surrounding areas is drained by the Topľa river and its tributaries Šibská voda and Kamenec. Hydrographically, this territory belongs to the headwaters of rich mineral springs with different chemical composition. The most famous is a unique source Cigeľka and mineral springs in Bardejovské Kúpele spa.
