Wooden Church - Kožany

Wooden Greek-Catholic Church of the Meeting of the Lord with Simeon was built around 1698. Thanks to valuable painting decorations of interior and unique iconostasis the church ranks among the exceptionally valuable sacred objects. Wall paintings from the 1793 - 1797 are well preserved in the interior. They represent the largest set of wall paintings from among the churches of the Eastern Rite.

The iconostasis consists of icons from the 18th century, the most outstanding icons include: St. Nicholas, Christ Pantocrator, Meeting of the Lord with Simeon and Christ the High Priest. The iconostasis has only two doors. In the turret of the church there are three bells, one of which is from 1406 and is considered the oldest Gothic bell in Eastern Slovakia.
